:: THE SWORD OF ETERNAL FIRE
::
The Sword of Eternal Fire, also known as the Karanblade, is the legendary artifact that Galtar Karan wielded to defeat the Balrog (see Ancient Lores)...
The sword itself is a very common long sword, except that within his blade there are twelve craved tiny red rubies, forming a circle right above it`s grip. The grip is covered with leather, and the blade looks like
a very ordinary one... But this sword is much, much more than an ordinary long sword!
::
It is a magical Long Sword with the following powers:
:: Enchantment bonus of +6
:: Keen Weapon. Threat range of 17-20
:: Mighty Cleaving. One extra cleave attempt per round.
:: Mighty Flaming. Can be sheathed in fire upon command, delivering
an additional 2d6 points of fire damage upon a successful hit.
:: Vorpal. Severs opponent's head (kills outright) on critical hits.
:: Bane. Against evil and/or good Outsiders, it's enchantment bonus is +8 and it delievers
an additional 2d6 points of damage (which stack with the bonus from Might Flaming).
:: Giant Strength. It grants the wielder a +8 enchantment bonus to Strength.
:: The sword is intelligent (Int 15, Wis 15, Cha 13, Ego 37) and chaotic neutral.
:: Telepathy. It can mentally speak with infernal, draconic, common,
elven and celestial languages.
:: It can cast the following spells, once per day each: fireball (10d6 points of damage, DC 15),
fire shield (only warm shield, 1d6+17 points of damage to attackers), wall of fire
(2d6+17 points of damage, DC 16). Once per week it can be used to plane shift to the Elemental
Plane of Fire (the wielder of the sword is able to survive there while grabbing it's grip).
::
Legends also say that this sword was forged into the depths of The Nine Hells, and also that a fire elemental lost it when some great magician from Near World summoned him... But no one can say exactly from
where this artifact is, nor where it have been. Just one thing you can say about it: It's a really deadly weapon!
