:: ULDRAS

:: Uldras are a calm and gentle kind, with a great affinity and interest to nature and all of its secrets. They usually like to live isolated with their all concerns at the security of the vast forests and woodland areas. Very often they found themselves with a great knowledge and wisdom at the end of their lives, generating one of the most cultural races of the lands.

Personality: Uldras adore nature and animals. Though many other races also share this affinity with them, they just doesn't like them the way the Uldras do... They prefer to observe the nature, the beautiful forests, the life of the animals, the passing of the river, the blow of the wind; And they do that without interfering with what they see.
Uldras believe that wisdom and happiness came both with the quiet and peaceful life, observing what is going on around the forests, never interfering directly with it, but registering everything that they see. That way, they believe, they may get closer to the hidden secrets of nature.

Physical Description: Uldras stand about 3 to 3 1/2 feet tall and weight 35 to 40 pounds. Their skin ranges from light tan to woody brown, their hair is long, straight, and always of a beautiful shining white color. Their eyes are inquisitive and huge, with a varied range of colors, from light green to shocking yellow. Their hands and feet are both long, and their heels almost never touches the ground while they are walking. They also have distinct long, oval shaped ears. Uldra males prefer short, carefully trimmed white beards. Uldras usually wear leather or earth tones, and the males usually use large conic shaped hats at their heads. Uldras reach adulthood at about age 40, and they live about 350 years, though some can live almost 500 years.

Relations: Uldras usually get along with all other races, even appearing as innocent creatures sometimes, though they are far from it... When they see that someone is not respecting the nature, they start to cut relations with him. That "someone" may be just another creature or an entire village, realms, and sometimes even an entire race. Since gnomes, elves and halflings also share some of their affinity with the nature ways, uldras tend to react well with them.

Alignment: Uldras are most often neutral. Those who tend toward law are druids, grand druids, clan leaders, sages or botanic students. Those who tend towards chaos are rangers, wanderers, travelers or banned ones. Though very rare, evil uldras can be very dangerous and vile beings.

Uldra Lands: Uldras mostly live in woodland clans governed by the grand druid of the respective forest. These clans will rarely host more than three hundred souls, and they always must ask for a permission before entering other uldaric forests. Their well-hidden villages blend into the trees, doing little harm to the forest. They hunt game, gather food, and grow vegetables, their skill and magic allowing them to support themselves apply without the need for clearing and plowing land. Their contact with outsiders are very rare, being very common one outsider passing by their entire villages without noticing their presence at all. Though the ones who are aware of them are treated well unless aggressive with them or with the nature.
Uldras who settle in human lands are so rare that their professions can't be delighted precisely. Most often they will be just rangers that stepped by the human cities for a time, to leave them after a time.

Religion: All uldras pray for Ehlonna, goddess of the woodlands, whom they respectably call as "The Great Mother". They will rarely consider or pray for any other god, since they all share this view of nature as the greatest force over all. Some of the rare evil uldras, though, might pray for other gods...

Language: The Uldaran is the unrecognizable tongue of the uldras. Its based on whistles and little animal grunts, and hasn't any writing form. Its also very rare to encounter any non uldaric being speaking this language.

Names: An uldra name is divided into three respective parts. The first one relates to his home forest, the second one to his family or clan, and the third one is his name, which is given to him only when he reaches adulthood. Uldaric names are most often chosen by the grand druid of their forests, or by their parents, and are always a derivation of an animal or plant name (though on their own language). Its hard to understand their names spoken on their own tongue, but they also adapt their spoken names to common and other well known languages.

Male Names: Yaal-kin-futh, Yaal-uru-kan, Yaal-ruk-lhan, Rith-mak-ku, Mahul-maakh-alin.

Female Names: Yaal-kin-finai, Yaal-uru-kynai, Yaal-ruk-lydia, Rith-mak-kai, Mahul-maakh-alina.

Family Names: Kin, Uru, Ruk, Mak, Maakh, Ravan, Cydia, Treen, and Carilla.

Adventures: Since uldras are calm and gentle beings, their adventure life may sound somewhat boring for the other kinds, though they really enjoy to just observe the nature. The are uldras that leave their home forests searching for adventure will have a good reason for that. Perhaps they were sent in a really important mission by their grand druids, perhaps they are willing to explore the lands and search for other species and fauna. Perhaps they were banned from their clans by misconduct or crime.

:: Uldras Racial Traits

:: +2 Wisdom, -2 Strength: Their uncommon sense of wisdom derived from their style of life is compensated by their lack of strength derived from their short body structure.
:: Small: As small creatures, uldras gain a +1 size bonus to Armor Class, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, and a +4 size bonus on Hide checks, but they must use smaller weapons than humans use, and their lifting and carrying limits are three-quarters of those of Medium-size characters.
:: Uldra base speed is 20 feet.
:: +2 racial bonus on Jump and Move Silently checks: Uldras legs are strong and surefooted.
:: Low-light vision: Uldras can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and details under these conditions.
:: +2 racial bonus on all saving throws against elemental spells, because uldras are fairly resistant to the forces of nature.
:: +2 racial bonus on Listen checks : Uldras have keen ears.
:: +2 racial bonus on Animal Empathy and Handle Animal checks: Uldras are well known by their strong affinity with animals.
:: Automatic Languages: Common and Uldaran. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Elven, Giant, Goblin, and Orc. In addition, once per day a uldra can use speak with animals as a spell-like ability to speak with a burrowing mammael (a badger, fox, rabbit, etc.). This ability is innate to uldras. It has a duration of 1 minute (the uldra is considered a 1st-level caster when he uses this ability, regardless of his actual level).
:: Favored Class: Druid. A multiclass uldra's druid class does not count when determining whether he suffers an XP penalty.
